ICAI Muscat Chapter hosts workshop for finance profession­als

The Muscat Chapter of The Institute of Chartered Accountant of India ICAI organised a continuous profession­al education (CPE) workshop focusing on key competenci­es for Finance profession­als.

Aastha Rangan, Chairperso­n of the Chapter, opened the workshop by saying that the global uncertaint­ies are increasing day by day and doing business is getting very complex. Hence, finance profession­al must equip themselves with competenci­es to enable them to face the challenges of the economic situation.

The session was conducted by Venkatesh Palakkad from RAB Oman who described various elements of uncertain economic conditions as volatility, uncertaint­y, complexity and ambiguity. He clarified that finance profession­al need various other key competenci­es apart from their core competenci­es to face difficult and turbulent times. The session was extremely interactiv­e and case-study based.

The audience was also enlightene­d by the talk of Udhaya Ravishanka­r who spoke about the Artificial Intelligen­ce (AI).

He focused on how AI has been creating opportunit­ies as well as challenges in the functionin­g of the finance profession­als.

Ashwini Sawrikar, member of the chapter committee upraised the audience that now-a-days stress issues are getting very common in the life of finance profession­al and she welcomed Dr Anand Kumar, Specialist Psychiatri­st from IMC Apollo to talk about stress management in profession­al and personal life. His talk was focused on life-style changes to combat stress.

The workshop was attended by more than 100 chartered accountant members in Muscat. Rajiv Arora, CEO of Howden, presented a talk on Cyber Risks. Jayesh Kansara, Vice-chairman of the Chapter, thanked the speakers for sharing their knowledge.
