International Maritime College students visit SBG Parts Distribution Centre

MUSCAT: Saud Bahwan Group, as an organisation totally focused on creating customer delight, has established a world-class infrastructure. Amongst the group’s many landmarks is a sophisticated and technically advanced facility for Parts Distribution Centre (PDC) that is one-of-a-kind, not merely in the country but also the region.

Equipped with the latest tools and equipment, the Saud Bahwan Group Parts Distribution Centre (SBG PDC) is spread over 60,000 sq metres and operates in accordance with advanced Toyota specifications and processes.

Recently, some batches of students from the International Maritime College Oman visited the group’s Parts Distribution Centre. The students had an extremely enriching educational experience, learning about various aspects of the latest warehousing and parts distribution processes.

They were also familiarised with diverse aspects of warehousing operations that include warehouse management system, best practices, warehouse layout, equipment including hardware and software and supply chain management.

Consistently ranked amongst the best in the region, the SBG PDC is often requested to share its best practices with the professional community in Oman. As the group’s spokesperson remarked, “In an effort to facilitate learning and sharing of knowledge, we periodically conduct process-training familiarisations for a number of organisations. Over the years, students and staff from various leading establishments have visited and benefited from these programmes.” The group spokesperson continued, “We received a large group of 73 students from the International Maritime College at our Parts Distribution Centre. They were divided into three batches to facilitate thorough understanding and learning.

The college had sent its students to appreciate the importance of warehouses in inbound and outbound logistics, effects of supply chain trends, understanding of roles and the functions of a large warehouse, understanding of the efficiency of warehouse management system and the importance of health and safety in warehouse management systems.”
