Degree/diploma from Oman gets Egypt’s approval

This decision was the result of several meetings with officials of the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education, the Scientific Research, the Secretarygeneral of the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities and the presidents of Egyptian Universities.

Both parties also discussed all challenges facing Omani students wishing to complete their studies in the Egyptian educational institutions.

These efforts and discussions resulted in the decision of the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities to recognise diploma and bachelor’s degree granted by all higher education institutions under Ministry of Higher Education.

The ministry has also agreed to approve degrees granted by all institutions of higher education under the supervision of the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education.

“In the past, students from Omani higher education institutions — whether Omani or other nationalities — have had a hard time equating their diplomas when they wished to study at Egyptian universities. The number of documents required and the length of administrative procedures related to the equivalence were a challenge,” al Zadjali said.

“The approval of the equivalence of these qualifications took three months or more, which deprived many students the opportunity to register in universities.

“The students had to study more than five supplementary courses. After completion of the study, the students had to re-submit the request for the equivalence.

“All these hardships were due to the fact that Omani higher education institutions were not recognised by the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities, except for the bachelor’s degree granted by Sultan Qaboos University.

“The Omani Ministry of Higher Education gave recognition to 21 governments and 12 private Egyptian educational institution.”

It is worth noting that around 591 Omani students are studying in Egypt in different private and government educational institutions.
