Sulieman al Ghraibi, Under-secretary, Ministry of Regional Municipality and Water Resources for Municipal Affairs, visited all the slaughterhouses in the governorates of North and South Al Batinah to check their readiness for Eid al Fitr.

The visit was an effort to review progress of work and accommodate an increase in the number of slaughterers during the Eid, besides providing sufficient butchers and cleaners, and contributing to the speedy completion of work.

The plan is to ensure safe/ speedy disposal of the remains of slaughter and provide sanitary conditions necessary for providing healthy and usable meat.

Al Ghraibi reviewed the maintenance and rehabilitation works of some of the slaughterhouses.

The slaughterhouse department at Muscat Municipality will take over veterinary and health examinations for the slaughter.

It will ensure sufficient number of butchers, veterinarians and cleaners to deal with the anticipated work pressure.

The slaughterhouse department asked the operating companies to hire Asian butchers on a temporary basis during the Eid to speed up work at slaughterhouses and spare customers from waiting for long hours.

The department of slaughterhouse announced the working hours for Eid from 7 am to 6 pm.

There will be specific periods for individuals and companies as per a schedule announced recently by the administration.
