OCGS and PEIE sign agreement

MUSCAT: Oman Centre for Governance and Sustainabi­lity (OCGS) signed an agreement with the Public Establishm­ent for Industrial Estates (PEIE).

The agreement was signed by Sayyid Hamid Sultan al Busaidy, Executive Director of OCGS and Engineer Hilal Hamed al Hassani, CEO of the PEIE.

The agreement marked the conclusion of negotiatio­ns and meetings between the two entities on their desire to cooperate to establish and develop the work environmen­t at the PEIE.

OCGS’S endeavours to provide consultanc­y services for governance and sustainabi­lity and to disseminat­e awareness on corporate governance and corporate responsibi­lity to enhance the ability to compete.

The agreement included OCGS’S preparatio­n of a code of governance for PEIE beside monitoring and examining governance practices to analyse gaps, if any, in addition to conducting on site visits to the premises of PEIE in Muscat to hold meetings with directors and executives to submit initial report on the results and gaps.

It also included preparing a draft study and governance manual containing descriptio­n of the present status of governance and other processes.

OCGS was establishe­d under Royal Decree in 2015 as none for profit organisati­on with administra­tive and financial independen­ce and is the first of its kind in the MENA region concerned with governance and sustainabi­lity.

OCGS is a government entity concerned with disseminat­ing the concept and culture of governance and sustainabi­lity in all the establishm­ents in the Sultanate regardless of their legal status.

OCGS’S vision is to contribute to the developmen­t as part of the national economy.

Its mission is to be eminent centre to build robust economy able to compete through instilling the culture of governance and sustainabi­lity in the economic processes through learning and pioneering.
