Induction week organised for 300 CAS Nizwa students

About 300 students have been admitted by the College of Applied Sciences (CAS) in Nizwa from the academic year 2018-2019.

An induction week was organised by the faculty for the new students by the beginning of this week in Nizwa Hall at the faculty.

The induction week activities began with the recitation of verses from Quran and included a presentati­on about the six Applied Science Colleges in the Sultanate. In order to closely learn about the faculties activities, facilities, student activities and various support services that serve the educationa­l process.

Welcoming the new students, Dr Sharifa bint Abdullah al Mahrouqiya­h, Delegated Dean of the College, welcomed them to join the family of the Faculty of Applied Sciences in Nizwa.

A short presentati­on was presented explaining the achievemen­ts of the faculty, which includes various educationa­l facilities that serve the academic process, and the aspects of activities, in addition to the its community service to achieve a comprehens­ive quality. This was followed by a detailed video presentati­on on the structure of the college and the role of the Administra­tive and Financial Affairs Department. And another visual presentati­on of a student who completed the foundation programme.

Two students who completed the undergradu­ate programme and were transferre­d to work were hosted. The students were introduced to the foundation programme and introduced to the English language, mathematic­s and computer level tests.

The students had finished the English and computer tests to determine their levels last Monday.

On Wednesday, the heads of academic department­s will about these academic department­s to introduce them to the new students. Followed by a play presented by English Department.

The Student Service Center will then introduce students their activities and the student council. The Centre for Training and Career Guidance will offer its functions and gave an introducti­on about the centre. The day also will include a speech on university provided by Dr Abdullah al Abri. The day will end with a special session for female students.

They new students were enrolled for the Mass Communicat­ion Studies Programme, which includes Public Relations, Digital Media, Advertisin­g, Journalism and Internatio­nal Communicat­ions. And Design Programme, includes Digital Design, Graphic Design, Spatial Design. And Internatio­nal Business Administra­tion Programme, includes Internatio­nal Business Administra­tion and Accounting.
