The latest medical achievements in the areas of ear, nose and throat (ENT) treatment were discussed at the 21st Oman Otolaryngology Head and Neck Audiology Conference, which saw attendance of 500 participants and 100 speakers on its opening day on Thursday. Many international medical equipment brands are participating in the conference, which opened at Sultan Qaboos Youth Recreation Centre under the auspices of Sayyid Mohammed bin Sultan bin Hamoud al Busaidy, Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar.

Dr Khalid al Mushekhi, Director-general of Health Service in Dhofar, called it a big knowledge sharing gathering for the people of medical fraternity. “I am happy to see latest equipment related to hearing aid, nose and throat displayed at the conference venue. I thank the organisers for bringing a conference of this scale to Salalah and exhort them to bring more such events in different specialties in future.”

Dr Rashid al Abri, Associate Professor and President of Oman ENT Society, said the success of 20th National Conference of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgeons in Muscat last year encouraged us to do something on a bigger scale.

“This year we are joining hands with the 11th GCC ORL H&N Society Symposium to present an international conference which covers all aspects of ORL, head and neck, speech therapy and audiology aspects. This conference is organised by Oman ORL Society in Association with Ministry of Health, Sultan Qaboos University and Armed Forces Medical Services and in cooperation with GCC ORL Society and Saudi ORL Society,” Al Abri said. He expressed confidence that the event would become a platform to share the latest updates and excellent opportunity to meet and network with local, regional and international faculty as an added value to relevant daily practice.
