National Defence College starts sixth academic year

MUSCAT: The National Defence College (NDC) on Thursday celebrated the inaugurati­on of its sixth batch, under the auspices of Maj Gen Salim bin Mussalam bin Ali Qatan, NDC Commandant, marking the start of the sixth academic year of the college.

The ceremony, which was held at the College’s headquarte­rs at Bait Al Falaj camp, began with recitation­s from the Holy Quran followed by a speech by Maj Gen Salim bin Mussalam bin Ali Qatan during which he affirmed that the batch’s programme was designed to be a true translatio­n of the Royal Directives of His Majesty the Sultan, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, that the National Defence College is a centre of science that stimulates creativity, research and developmen­t at the strategic level in the fields of security and defence.

He pointed out that since its establishm­ent, the College has expanded the avenues of knowledge in all elements of the state’s strengths in order to achieve the desired benefits of the homeland.

The national defence batch comes within the framework of preparing and qualifying strategic military and civil leaders with the aim of imparting the knowledge and skills that enable them to assume leadership positions at the strategic level.

The sixth batch included senior officers from the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF), the Royal Guard of Oman (RGO), the Royal Oman Police (ROP) and the Royal Court Affairs (RCA), in addition to a number of other government security and civil institutio­ns.

The event was attended by members of the NDC Guidance Faculty, staff members, and participan­ts of the Sixth Batch.
