Royal Cavalry ready for World Equestrian Games

MUSCAT: The Royal Cavalry are fully prepared to compete in the World Endurance Games which will be held in Tryon town at North Carolina, USA, from September 11 to 23.

Eight of Royal Cavalry riders and as many horses have qualified for the championsh­ip.

“We will participat­e by a team of four riders and 1 reserve, based on the rules of the FEI, the organising body of the event, said Brigadier-general Abdulrazak Abdulqader al Shahwarzi, commander of Royal Cavalry.

“We are proud to what the Royal Cavalry reached to a high position in horse and equestrian sports,” Al Shahwarzi said.

He pointed out that the endurance team competed in many internatio­nal races and secured advanced position in various races.

“We followed up the last preparatio­ns to select the riders and horses by the technical apparatus,” he added.

OMAN TEAM The team’s technical apparatus selected four riders of the list of riders qualified for the championsh­ip to represent Oman, who are: Mahmoud al Foori on mare Dallilah, Hisham al Farsi on mare Ondia, Saleh al Balushi on stallion Rice and Hussain al Farsi on stallion Rafal de Career. The reserve is Adil al Balushi on mare Tuscan. This selection was based on accurate supervisio­n and results achieved in various internatio­nal competitio­ns.

The Royal Cavalry endurance team reached Tryon town in North Carolina together with the technical team and will start rehearsals as planned.

Roman Laporte, the trainer, said that the team is ready for competitio­n with rich experience of internatio­nal races organised by FEI in a number of European countries, and will hope to get good position in the championsh­ip.

First Lieutenant Nasser al Hussaini, officer of the section of endurance race at Royal Cavalry, said that riders are fully motivated. “Our riders had good results in the past and the World Equestrian Games will see strong competitio­n as all are prepared, and we hope to claim top positions.”

The Omani riders are Mahmoud al Foori on Dallilah, Hisham al Farsi on Ondia, Saleh al Balushi on Rice and Hussain al Farsi on Rafal de Career. The reserve is Adil al Balushi on Tuscan.
