Students, parents interact during orientation week at National University of Science and Technology
MUSCAT: The National University of Science and Technology received its first batch of students for the academic year 2018-19 at the Airport Height Campus, Muscat. During the Orientation Week which commenced on September 9, the students and parents were able to interact with the University executives, faculty and staff.
Students of engineering, medicine and pharmacy were introduced to the different facilities and services offered by the University.
They were also familiarised with the social, psychological and healthcare programmes, the important dates, times and places of the placement tests.
The Vice-chancellor of the University, Dr Simon David Jones, Deputy Vice-chancellor, Dr Salim al Araimi, Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Acting Dean of Admission and Registration, Dr Yaseen M Lawatia and Dr Sleem al Habsi, HOD of the School of Foundation Studies, addressed the new batch of students.
Though new on the prestigious list of private universities in Oman, the fame and distinction of the National University of Science and Technology has been in existence for decades through the renowned work in research and teaching of its affiliated colleges of Caledonian College of Engineering, Oman Medical College and College of Pharmacy.
The National University has strong academic links with reputed universities in the United Kingdom and the United States. The Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland, UK, the University of South Carolina and the West Virginia University in USA provide academic oversight to the National University.
