Khat seized in Dhofar

MUSCAT: The Directorat­e of Combating Narcotics and Psychotrop­ic Substances at the Dhofar Governorat­e Police Command seized more than 3,400 bundles of khat which was concealed in Wadi Mashroub in the Wilayat of Mirbat.

In a separate case, anti-drug police foiled an attempt to smuggle 1,400 bundles of khat in Ein Hamran in the Wilayat of Salalah. MURDER SUSPECT HELD: Detectives from the Directorat­e of Inquiries and Criminal Investigat­ion at South Al Batinah Police Command have identified the suspect in the murder of a citizen which occurred on Thursday, a Royal Oman Police (ROP) sources said.

As per the details, the body of the murdered citizen was dumped by the roadside in Al Jamma area in the Wilayat of Rustaq.

Preliminar­y police investigat­ions revealed that the victim received a blow to the head with a metal causing his death.

The culprit then moved the body to the Al Batinah Highway and ran over it with his vehicle so that the death appears as a runover accident.

However, the police investigat­ion uncovered the mystery and managed to identify the culprit.

The police is taking legal action against the defendant before referring him to the judiciary. 2 HELD FOR ROBBERY: Two people have been arrested by the Al Suwaiq Police Station on charges related to vandalism and robbery of a supermarke­t.

CCTV cameras captured two masked men entering the supermarke­t after breaking a glass door.

The police recovered the stolen items and the tools used by the criminals.
