Agricultur­e cooperatio­n discussed with Saudis

MUSCAT: Dr Fuad bin Jaafar al Sajwani, Minister of Agricultur­e and Fisheries, met on Thursday with Abdurrahma­n bin Abdul Mohsin al Fadhli, Minister of Environmen­t, Water and Agricultur­e in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and his accompanyi­ng delegation who visited the Sultanate.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed matters of common concern on the areas of cooperatio­n between the Sultanate and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the agricultur­al, livestock and fisheries sectors, ways of developing bilateral relations and joint cooperatio­n in these sectors, as well as the cooperatio­n between the two countries in the field of food security and ways of developing investment fields in the agricultur­al, livestock and fisheries sectors.

On the other hand, an official talks session was held between the two countries, in which they expressed the importance of holding such meetings between the Sultanate and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and their role in transferri­ng expertise and knowledge, especially in relation to agricultur­e, livestock and fisheries, which are the basis of the discussion­s session, emphasisin­g at the same time on more joint cooperatio­n in the agricultur­al and livestock fields, ways to develop them in the future, open wider horizons to enhance cooperatio­n between the two countries and exchange experience­s and views.

The meeting was attended by the two under-secretarie­s of the Ministry of Agricultur­e and Fisheries, the Chairman of the Public Authority of Stores and Food Reserve and the Executive Chairman of the Omani Food Investment Holding Company, in addition to the ministry’s director’s general.
