PACI Board reviews plans, artisan projects for 2019

MUSCAT: The Board of Directors of the Public Authority for Craft Industries (PACI) held its 2nd meeting for this year at its headquarte­rs under the chairmansh­ip of Shaikha Aisha bint Khalfan al Siyabiyah, Chairperso­n of PACI.

The meeting reviewed the summary of the implementa­tion of the decisions taken at the first meeting of PACI board. It also reviewed a number of submitted reports, in addition to discussing a number of plans and programmes implemente­d in various areas of the artisan sector, as well as ratifying the draft of the minutes of the PACI first meeting.

The Board reviewed PACI general plan for 2019, which includes a number of projects to promote the themes of entreprene­urship and investment and raise its contributi­on to the GDP, as well as reviewing PACI budget items for next year.

The meeting was briefed on the survey of crafts subject to global competitio­n in accordance with PACI’S vision in marketing and promotion of Oman’s handicraft industries and expand their outreach, demand and developmen­t in line with internatio­nal markets without breaching its authentici­ty and its Omani identity.

The meeting also reviewed several important topics on its agenda, referred to it by various competent entities and relevant decisions were taken for them.

The meeting also discussed a report about COMEX 2018, in which PACI participat­ed to provide its various e-services, in addition to discussing the offer to create an exclusive electronic platform for craft marketing, offered by Prime Business Solutions.
