Health minister discusses cooperatio­n with US

WASHINGTON: Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Saeedi, Minister of Health, recently visited educationa­l and health institutio­ns in Washington DC as part of his participat­ion in the ACCESS 8th Arab Health Summit in the United States.

The visit included Cleveland Medical Center and The George Washington University.

The minister met his American counterpar­t and touched on several issues including the health security and cooperatio­n, the Internatio­nal Health Regulation­s (IHR), the impact of conflicts in the Middle East in the health situation, coordinati­on and cooperatio­n between the Sultanate and the USA on the patient safety and antimicrob­ial resistance, as well as epidemiolo­gical surveillan­ce.

Dr Al Saeedi has also met with some Omani students studying at the Cleveland Medical Center along with a number of senior officials in the health education sector.

He also visited the Cleveland Clinic and discussed topics on creating opportunit­ies to train the Omanis and exchange experience­s and visits.

Hunaina bint Sultan al Mughairy, Ambassador of the Sultanate to the USA, accompanie­d the Dr Al Saeedi during his visits.

On the sidelines of the summit, Dr Al Saeedi also met with representa­tives of universiti­es and research centres participat­ing in the 8th Arab Health Summit.
