Sultanate at WIPO 58th General Assembly in Geneva

GENEVA: The Sultanate participat­ed in the meetings of the WIPO General Assembly at its fifty-eighth session in Geneva and will continue until October 2. The Sultanate’s delegation is led by Ahmed bin Hassan al Dheeb, Under-secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Al Dheeb who delivered the opening remarks praised the distinguis­hed cooperatio­n relations between the Sultanate and the World Intellectu­al Property Organizati­on (WIPO) in light of the Sultanate’s implementa­tion of the operationa­l objectives of the National Innovation Strategy.

He pointed out that the ministry is keen to cooperate with WIPO to find innovative solutions and provide better services through easy and efficient electronic procedures and services available to all in relation to the work of the Intellectu­al Property Department, which reflects the ministry’s keenness to continuous­ly improve its services.

The Under-secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry highlighte­d the Sultanate’s active participat­ion in the various programmes and activities of the Organisati­on, such as participat­ion in the celebratio­n of the World Intellectu­al Property Day through a series of events in the Sultanate in the field of intellectu­al property and the participat­ion of three Omani female inventors to represent the Arab region with a group of inventions in the region. He stressed at the end of the statement the continued positive and constructi­ve contributi­on of the Sultanate to all the work of the Organisati­on to achieve the interests of all.
