National University celebrates Pharmacist­s Day

MUSCAT: The National University of Science and Technology celebrated the Internatio­nal Pharmacist­s Day on September 25 at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Bausher.

This celebratio­n aims to highlight the effective role of the pharmacist and what they offers in their field of specialisa­tion It also an opportunit­y to students at different levels of study to participat­e in an event related to their future career and maintain strong ties with the community.

The ceremony was attended by a group of students from the Faculty of Pharmacy and some graduate students and profession­al pharmacist­s. They participat­ed in various activities held during the day, such as competitio­ns and a pharmacy workshop with the participat­ion of the Astr Hospital.

Dr Yaseen Moosa al Lawatia, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the National University of Science and Technology, stressed the importance of organising these events, as they represents a good opportunit­y to educate the various members of society about correct ways of using medicine.

He also emphasised the importance of the work of the pharmacist, which is not limited to the disburseme­nt of medicines to the patient only, but the second line of defence after the doctors in the process of educating the patient by providing counsellin­g and guidance for different and age groups.

The occasion of the World Pharmacist Day is an opportunit­y to thank the pharmacist­s for their sincere efforts.
