Dream debut for Ubaidullah as Enhance upsets Assarain
MUSCAT: Young Ubaidullah marked his Premier Division debut with a match-winning spell, bowling Enhance to a surprise 4-wicket victory against Assarain at the Ministry of Sports ground 1 in Al Amerat on Thursday.
Opting to bat first, Assarain was shot out for 161 in the 36th over due largely to Ubaid’s impressive bowling as he picked up 4 wickets for 23 runs. Wasim Ali bagged 2 for 35. Opener Sami Ur Rahman was Assarain’s topscorer with 56 off 48 while Sanuth Ebrahim contributed a patient 31 off 55 balls.
Enhance went about chasing the target slowly but steadily and registered its first victory of the season in the 44th over, scoring 164 for 6. Opener Jehanzeb Ali scored 57 off 91 while Mehran Khan remained unbeaten on 34 off 38. Spinner Shakeel Ahmad picked up 3 wickets for 28 while pacer Sindo Michael took 2 for 21. TO VICTORY Ashan Fonseka and Aaqib Javed claimed four wickets each to power Ooredoo to a 5-wicket win over OCT Muscat in an A Division game at MOS ground 2 on Friday.
OCT Muscat was bundled out for 155 in the 35th over, Majid al Balushi toscoring with 60 not out and Wasim Ismail scoring 24. Ashan and Aaqib bowled to claim 4 for 40 and 4 for 50, respectively.
Ooredoo stuttered initially after being reduced to 78 for 4 before recovering to post a 5-wicket win in the 42nd over thanks to Adil Mohammed’s unbeaten 42 off 74. Vijayanand chipped in with a useful 38. Ali Akbar bagged two wickets for OCT Muscat. STS scored 175 for 7 in 20 overs, Vignesh Gunasekar (49) and Vikas Bhadoria (37 not out) being the main scorers.
Zubair raced to the target with 20 balls to spare, scoring 176 for 5. Apart from Prathiban, Rupp Sighe batted well too, contributing 36 not out. Barmeda bagged 2 for 24. FOR OCT MAABELAH Shareef al Balushi’s magnificent all-round show helped OCT Maabelah to a big 7-wicket win against RAHRC at Muscat Municipality ground 3.
Shareef claimed 3 for 11 while Asif al Balushi took 3 for 17 as RAHRC was bowled out for a paltry 98 in the 16th over. OCT Maabelah needed only 12.3 overs to overhaul the target, scoring 101 for 3 thanks to Shareef’s 38 not out. Brief scores (E Division): RAHRC 98 all out in 15.1 overs (Ajithkumar Krishna 29 – 4x4.
