Al Kishry takes part in 19th Asian Games follow-up panel meeting
MUSCAT: Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) Secretary-general Taha al Kishry on Wednesday attended the first meeting of coordination and followup committee of 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022.
The Coordination and Follow-up Committee of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) held its first meeting during February 19–20 in cooperation with the Organising Committee of the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022.
The meeting was intended to review the preparedness of all sports facilities and follow up the progress of ongoing preparations for the most prominent Asian sporting event.
Taha al Kishry, who is a member of the OCA’S Coordination and Follow-up Committee said: “It was agreed that the Games would be held from September 16 – 25 with the Opening Ceremony on September 16. The next meeting of the committee will be on September 9–10, 2019.”
The coordination and follow-up committee made an inspection visit to the facilities, venues and the sports village accompanied by the Organising Committee. The OCA’S coordination and follow-up committee expressed its satisfaction at level of preparedness of all sports facilities for the Games and recommended continued work to further uplift the efficiency of infrastructure. For the first time globally and at the level of Asian Games, an Olympic village will be constructed to accommodate 23,000 athletes, administrators and media personnel. It is an integrated sports city that is considered to be the most modern one in China.
The members of the coordination and follow-up committee had a sight on the reports submitted by the supporting sub-committees within the Organising Committee of the Games and attended visual presentations delivered by the concerned departments.
