Police concerned over fate of Norway investor’s missing wife

-

STOCKHOLM: Police said on Thursday that they were concerned over a “lack of proof of life” in the case of the wife of one of Norway’s wealthiest businessmen who has been missing for four months. “We can’t rule out that something went awry during or after the suspected abduction, and that the counterpart therefore can’t send any proof of life,” police inspector Tommy Broske told reporters.

Anne-elisabeth Falkevik Hagen, 68, went missing from her Lorenskog home in Akershus county, near Oslo, on October 31.

Broske said neither the police nor the family has received any messages from the suspected kidnappers since February 11.

“It is natural for the police, to a greater extent than previously, to question whether Anne-elisabeth Hagen is still alive,” he added.

Police urged the suspected kidnappers to make contact.

More than 1,500 tip-offs have been recorded since January 9, when the police went public about the disappearance.

Police said they were still interested in getting in touch with two men spotted in surveillance camera footage outside the business premises of Tom Hagen on the day of the disappearance.

Tom Hagen is an investor with business interests in power generation and real estate, estimated to be worth 1.7 billion kroner ($200 million), according to financial site Kapital.

A search last month of a lake near Hagen’s home by divers did not uncover any possible discoveries linked to the case, Broske said.

Police have confirmed a ransom demand and payment request in a crypto currency, making it difficult to trace.
