Khalid bowls IT Works to victory, exciting wins for NBO, Aptus, Zubair
MUSCAT: Veteran Khalid Rasheed picked up 4 for 23 in a magnificent spell that paved the way for IT Works’ superb 74-run victory against Sinha CT in an A Division clash at Oman Cricket’s grassy ground two in Amerat on Saturday.
IT Works posted a fighting 239 all out on the board in 43 overs thanks to major contributions by Hassan M (40), Asgar Shaikh (39), Adil Khan (31) and Fawad Ali (31). Ravindu Weeramuni and Dileepa Srilal bagged three wickets each.
Sinha started off well and was cruising at 61 for 1 but saw a sudden collapse reducing it to 96 for 7 as Khalid Rasheed used all his experience and guiles to derail Sinha’s chase which finally ended when it got dismissed for 165 in the 42nd over. Asim Kamal and Ihtesham Muhammed took two wickets each. Gayash Dias and Chaminda Lakmal scored 27 not out and 23 respectively. In the Intermediate Division Knockout tournament, NBO defeated a spirited Ideal International by 5 wickets in a high-scoring game at Muscat Municipality ground 4 on Friday.
Chasing 181 to win, NBO surpassed the big total in the final over, scoring 182 for 5 with Baiju Lawrance topscoring with a fluent 58 not out off 45 balls. Opener Khurram Bilal had earlier set the tone with a belligerent 51 off 29 while Mustansar Hussain chipped in with a useful 30. Vijesh Latha’s unbeaten half century steered Aptus CT to an easy 9-wicket win over Silkgate in another Intermediate Division Knockout match on Friday.
Silkgate was bundled out for a paltry 99 in 17 overs which Aptus chased down in only 11 overs thanks to brilliant 53 not out by Vijesh and unbeaten 31 by Biji Sunder. Magnificent 72 not out by Mohammed Naheem and brilliant 61 by Omani opener Faris al Zedjali set up STS Tebodin’s huge 138-run victory against Oasis Water in an Intermediate Division Knockout match at Muscat Municipality ground three on Friday.
STS Tebodin piled up a huge 257 for 5 in 20 overs thanks to amazing batting by Naheem, Faris and Muhammed Ali (39). Facing a massive target, Oasis Water wilted under pressure, folding up for 119 in the 17th over. Jerin Davis (44) and Anoop Kizhakke (37) were the only notable scorers. Muhammed Ali and Jeel Tanna claimed two wickets each.
