Education minister receives Saudi Arabian official

MUSCAT: Dr Madeeha bint Ahmed al Shaibaniya­h, Minister of Education, received Dr Faisal bin Abdullah al Mishari al Saud, President of the Education Evaluation Commission (EEC) and Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Assessment in Saudi Arabia and his accompanyi­ng delegation, on Tuesday.

During the meeting, they reviewed joint cooperatio­n between the ministry and EEC regarding the licensing of teachers, profession­al and curriculum standards.

The Saudi delegation presented three working papers on the National Centre for Assessment and its programmes in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in a separate meeting. It was attended by Saud bin Salim al Balushi, Under-secretary of the Ministry of Education; Dr Hamoud bin Khalfan al Harthy, Under-secretary of Education and Curriculum; members of the State Council and members of Majlis Ash’shura.

The first paper was presented by Dr Faisal bin Abdullah Al Mishari al Saud, entitled “Assessment of Education and Training”. The second paper, entitled “Curriculum Standards Programme and the School Performanc­e Assessment Programme”, was presented by Dr Adel bin Abdurrahma­n al Qaid, Executive Director of Public Education Evaluation Sector, Saudi Education Evaluation Commission, and the third paper by Dr Abdullah bin Ali al Qatai. — ONA
