Bank Muscat Visa prepaid card redefines convenience, security

MUSCAT: Bank Muscat, the flagship financial services provider in the Sultanate, in line with its vision ‘To serve you better, everyday’ and commitment to secure banking, has launched a feature-rich prepaid card in association with Visa. The launch ceremony was held at the bank’s head office in the presence of Shaikh Waleed al Hashar, Chief Executive Officer, and Marcello Baricordi, General-manager of Visa — Middle East and North Africa.

Prepaid to pay for all transactions, the reloadable card is designed for everyday use, enhancing convenience and security. The Omani Riyal Visa prepaid card can be loaded with a cash amount preferred by customers, as many times as needed.

Customers are required to maintain an account with Bank Muscat to acquire the prepaid card, which can be used in Oman and abroad. The special card is available in all Bank Muscat branches across the Sultanate. Customers can walk into a branch and instantly obtain up to 3 cards with a total paid-up limit of RO 2000.

The card has a paid-up limit of RO 2,000 and can be reloaded through the bank’s digital channels of mobile banking and Internet banking and branches. Payments using the card are made against funds available on the card. All transactions are authorised using Personal Identification Number (PIN).

Bank Muscat cards, which spell convenience and security, are the preferred mode of payment in Oman. The wide range of Bank Muscat cards provide a secure option to pay for transactions at shopping malls, restaurants or holiday abroad. Embedded with an electronic chip, the cards ensure maximum protection and peace of mind.

The Visa prepaid card allows customers to be in total control of everyday spending. The available balance can be electronically checked through mbanking and Internet banking channels.

In Oman and the Gulf region, customers can also check the available balance on prepaid card through Bank Muscat ATMS and other ATMS which display the Omannet / GCC Switch logos.

The Bank Muscat Visa prepaid card is ideal for travel abroad. Safer and more convenient than carrying cash, the card can be used anywhere without carrying foreign currency.

The Visa prepaid card can be used for secure online transactions, as cardholders can limit the maximum amount that can be spent on the card. One-time-password (OTP) security service is provided when transacting online.

The card can be presented to family members as well as children in lieu of their pocket money. Parents can track online the spending by children.
