Commemorative book on State Council to be released today
MUSCAT: The State Council will launch on Tuesday a commemorative book entitled The Council Memories, featuring its work over two decades, under the patronage of Dr Yahya bin Mahfoudh al Manthri, State Council Chairman, in the presence of Council members and the Secretary-general.
The book launch marks the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the State Council. Its documentation has aimed to collect, amalgamate and segregate documents according to the terms and roles of the convening, process, audit, review and convert paper documents electronically.
The book presents exhaustive information about the Council activities and work in 13 parts and 88 volumes on 600 topics in various fields.
Within the framework of the book project, the process has involved employing the requisite technology and the new electronic database includes all draft laws and studies prepared by the Council since its establishment, according to the latest classification, tabulation and indexing standards.
DEBATE ON AMENDMENTS Also on Tuesday, the State Council will hold its fourth ordinary sitting of the first annual session of the seventh term, chaired by Dr Al Manthri and attended by the members and the Secretary-general.
The agenda of the session includes the Chairman’s speech and discussion on the views of the standing committees regarding the proposed amendments to their competences; as well as discussion on the proposals submitted by the committees for the topics that they intend to study during the current session.
The session will approve a proposal to amend its organisational structure. It will also review several reports, including the General Secretariat report and the final report of the ‘Council Memory’ project.
