Seeb adheres by government guidelines on COVID-19, says club chairman

“We obeyed the rules which were raised by the steering committee to control the spread of COVID-19 and the Ministry of Sports Affairs to stop the sports activities.

The club closed all its activities and informed all the members to avoid practicing any sport or youth activity inside the facilities of the club. All these decisions are precaution­ary steps to tackle the Coronaviru­s,”

Commenting on the decision of the Oman Football Associatio­n to postpone the season until September 2020,

“This is a worldwide issue and everyone should follow all the government­al related authoritie­s’ decisions to prevent spreading of this virus. As Seeb club we are always in the line of the government directions and ready to implement all the decisions and rules in this regard. Despite to any negative impacts could occur to the club either from postponing the season or any financial impacts, Seeb club will obey all the decisions which is announced by the government,’’ Al Wahaibi said.

The vice chairman of Seeb club pointed out that the club’s management staff completed all the technical team, admin staff, medical team and player’s financial rights as per the signed contracts for this season (2019-2020) and ended by end of April 2020.

“We decided to finish and settle all the player’s financial rights and gave them all the salaries for this season although we are in March. Moreover, in Seeb Club we have eleven sports and many profession­al players, coaches and medical staff.

The board of the team decided to allow the players go back home with their full financial rights. For some cases, the club paid a lot for return tickets as many airlines raised their ticket prices due to the current situation. However, the board took this decision as they care about the players’ safety and aware of the importance of keeping them safe with their families,” he added.

Seeb’s vice chairman stated that the OFA’S circulatio­n to the clubs included that OFA will follow up with FIFA for the suspension of the season to September. “We will wait for the decision whether to continue the season with the same players or the club can have some new players,” he said.

The 12-time winner of the HM Youth Cup, were in tough competitio­n in football as they were leading Omantel League by 50 points with a five points gap with the runner up Dhofar.

Also, home team were crowned as champion of the Ministry’s Volleyball Shield Championsh­ip as they beat Al Kamil W’al Wafi 3-2 in the concluding game on March 9. In Basketball league, Seeb is also in the final stages with Ahli Sidab and Nizwa.
