Be’ah and APSR ink pact to support circular economy
Oman Environmental Services Holding Company (be’ah) and has signed an MOU with the Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR) to support the latter’s ‘Kafaa wa Ata’a’ initiative.
Signing on behalf of the Authority was its Chairman, Shaikh Dr Mansour bin Talib al Hinai, while be’ah was represented by its CEO Eng Tariq bin Ali al Amri.
According to the agreement, both parties will work on strengthening environmental cooperation by supporting green initiatives that help transform linear economy to a circular one and reduce the increasing amount of generated waste across the Sultanate.
“This MOU aims at supporting “Kafaa wa Ata’a” initiative which was launched by the Authority for Public Services Regulation in collaboration with Dar Al Ata’a Charity and be’ah.
Our part of the agreement will be ensuring safe and efficient disposal of used Air
Conditioners by directing this waste stream to a local certified dismantling facility that follows strict regulations and policies. be’ah is currently exploring the market for SMES to run recycling facilities for this specific type of waste,” said Kumayl bin Ahmed al Lawati, Head of Business Development at be’ah.
Amal Shihab al Zadjali, Communication and Media Manager at the Authority, stated: “The MOU will greatly support the initiative which aims at providing high-quality Air Conditioners to families in need with the goal to reduce their energy consumption. We trust that this initiative will have a great impact as all collaborators are experienced in initiatives that give back to the environment and the community.”
Environmental goals set out under Oman Vision 2040 focus on transforming the national economy into a circular approach that would ensure a sustainable future for natural resources, create more opportunities, and tackle health and environmental issues caused by pollution.
