Minister inspects progress on Khazaen Economic City
Dr Said bin Mohammed al Saqri, Minister of Economy, visited Khazaen Economic City (KEC) on Tuesday to check the readiness of the City’s infrastructure and to review the most notable strategic projects coming up within the KEC such as the Khazaen Central Fruits and Vegetables Market and the Land Port.
The minister’s visit was also aimed at reviewing the investment opportunities offered by KEC in the industrial, logistics and housing sectors to the local and international investors.
The minister of economy was accompanied during the visit by Issa bin Hamad al Azri, Governor of South Al Batinah, Engineer Salim bin Mohammed al Nuaimi, Under-secretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Transport, and Shaikh Abdullah bin Mohammed al Braiki, Wali of Barka.
The minister of economy and the officials made an inspection tour to get acquainted with the completed stages of the first phase of the infrastructure project at KEC, which was completed before the end of last year. They also inspected a number of facilities in the city.
Administrative officials of KEC gave a presentation about the KEC and its principal components and the incentives and facilitations offered to local and international investors.
The executive management of Khazaen Economic City reviewed the city’s plans and programmes and the importance of this ambitious national project and its contribution to supporting the government’s economic diversification strategy.
Also reviewed during the visit were the most important achievements and the development that took place at KEC, especially after the completion of the first phase of the infrastructure project. The visit shed light on the main government projects which are hoped to be executed during the next stage according to the plans approved by the government.
Salem bin Suleiman, CEO of Khazaen Economic City, gave a visual presentation on the components of the city, the most important projects it contains, as well as the expected investments for the city. He explained that the KEC has many advantages, the most important of which are the advanced infrastructure and ease of procedures, in addition to a set of incentives and facilitations designed to attract local and international investors, in addition to the city’s strategic location, which ensures easy connectivity and quick access to the various land, sea and air ports of the Sultanate.
