Health minister takes part in GCC meet
MANAMA: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Health, on Thursday took part in the seventh meeting of GCC Health Ministers Committee and the 84th GCC Health Ministers Conference, hosted in Manama, Bahrain.
The Sultanate of Oman was represented in the meetings by Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Saeedi, Minister of Health. The meeting addressed a spectrum of key health topics and issues of common concern. It reviewed the implementation of the 41st session of Supreme Council’s decisions and the declaration issued in the field of health, considering the adoption of the general framework of the Gulf public health plan for emergency preparedness and response, the adoption of the early health warning system and the adoption of the establishment of the Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control.
In addition, the meeting reviewed strengthening strategic partnerships and the development of joint action mechanisms.
Moreover, the meeting discussed the Secretariat’s General vision on the joint work in the health field — post-covid-19 pandemic.
The meeting also reviewed the Secretariat’s General reports on the health efforts of the GCC states regarding the measures taken in confronting the pandemic and limiting its spread, as well as the efforts of the GCC states and the initiatives in health voluntary work, in addition to the 20212025 action plan of the ministers that included a number of joint programmes and projects. The ministerial meeting was preceded by a preparatory meeting of GCC heath under-secretaries that outlined agenda of 7th Meeting of GCC Health Ministers Committee and the 84th GCC Health Ministers General Conference.
