57,906 students take GED first semester exams from today

The General Education Diploma (GED) first semester examinatio­ns for the academic year 2022-2023 will begin today.

A total of 57,906 are taking the exams at 361 examinatio­n centres in all governorat­es of the Sultanate of Oman. Of these, Muscat Governorat­e has 56 examinatio­n centres, Dhofar (49 examinatio­n centres), North Al Batinah Governorat­e (50 examinatio­n centres), South Al Batinah Governorat­e (38 examinatio­n centres), Al Dakhiliyah Governorat­e (48 examinatio­n centres), South Al Sharqiyah Governorat­e (27 examinatio­n centres), North Al Sharqiyah Governorat­e (32 examinatio­n centres), Al Dhahirah Governorat­e (22 examinatio­n centres), Al Wusta Governorat­e (20 examinatio­n centres), Musandam Governorat­e (7 examinatio­n centres) and Al Buraimi Governorat­e (12 examinatio­n centres).

The Ministry of Education has readied 6,400 exam markers and 6,500 exam supervisor­s. Besides, the ministry formed follow-up committees for all examrelate­d processes including the central examinatio­n committee that follow up and oversee the examinatio­ns and marking. This is in addition to the governorat­es committees represente­d by the examinatio­n management committees which are tasked with preparing the examinatio­n centres and following up the exams.

The Ministry of Education has dedicated four marking centres in Muscat, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah and Al Dakhiliyah governorat­es that will be operationa­l on morning and evening shifts. The marking of the exam papers begins tomorrow (Monday) and concludes on February 22.

The Ministry of Education restricted cell phones at the examinatio­n centres advising students to be present at the centres at the specified time carrying the original ID documents with them.
