57,906 students take GED first semester exams from today
The General Education Diploma (GED) first semester examinations for the academic year 2022-2023 will begin today.
A total of 57,906 are taking the exams at 361 examination centres in all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman. Of these, Muscat Governorate has 56 examination centres, Dhofar (49 examination centres), North Al Batinah Governorate (50 examination centres), South Al Batinah Governorate (38 examination centres), Al Dakhiliyah Governorate (48 examination centres), South Al Sharqiyah Governorate (27 examination centres), North Al Sharqiyah Governorate (32 examination centres), Al Dhahirah Governorate (22 examination centres), Al Wusta Governorate (20 examination centres), Musandam Governorate (7 examination centres) and Al Buraimi Governorate (12 examination centres).
The Ministry of Education has readied 6,400 exam markers and 6,500 exam supervisors. Besides, the ministry formed follow-up committees for all examrelated processes including the central examination committee that follow up and oversee the examinations and marking. This is in addition to the governorates committees represented by the examination management committees which are tasked with preparing the examination centres and following up the exams.
The Ministry of Education has dedicated four marking centres in Muscat, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah and Al Dakhiliyah governorates that will be operational on morning and evening shifts. The marking of the exam papers begins tomorrow (Monday) and concludes on February 22.
The Ministry of Education restricted cell phones at the examination centres advising students to be present at the centres at the specified time carrying the original ID documents with them.
