Bibliophiles gather under one roof to share love of reading
How does one instil a love for reading especially among kids? Organisations across the country had been putting together creative projects to guide future generations to embrace books making them an important foundation for their exploration of The Impact of Words and Motivational Books and Authors, Fiction vs Non-fiction, and the Literary community in Oman.
The fest featured other events such as competitions, book launches, and different sessions. The fest also witnessed a colouring competition for school students from grades one to three. There were also poem recitation competitions and a short future.
The third edition of the Book Fest organised by the Indian Social Club and Al Bhaj Book Store under the aegis of the Indian Embassy aims to create a space for book lovers and to put under the spotlight some Omani authors whose works are acclaimed during the fest.
Inaugurated on January 12 and running until January 15, the story and book review writing competition which targeted school students in different grades.
The event hoped to embrace a large number of reading lovers. It brought authors and readers from different levels to the same event. Thus, the event witnessed participants and visitors from different ages and stages. several authors, poets, students, and other event was part of the festivities of India’s 75th year of independence. The four-day Book Fest featured several works of well-known Omani authors, sessions on book recommendations, and panel discussions. Also, the event saw the launching of several books whose authors are based in Oman.
Throughout its run, the event witnessed different panel personalities attended the event. The only common denominator they share is the passion they have for books.
Anisha Bansal Bhatia, the founder of Oman Book Lovers Club which has been invited to engage and organise the event, shared that it was a great opportunity to engage people who share with them the same interest and to meet important writers in discussions which gathered the authors and readers to discuss different literary topics ambitiously setting up panel discussions per day.
On the first day, the panel discussion put the spotlight on the impact and importance of storytelling at an early age. The other panel discussions conducted the rest of the days include an
Oman, and she is grateful for all those who gave them the acceptance.
She added that the event was very emotional for her as they received so many compliments as organisers.
“I was glad, and I found it a joyous moment whenever I introduced writers to each other. It was amazing to see that we manage to create a network for them and connect them,” she added.*
