Bibliophil­es gather under one roof to share love of reading

How does one instil a love for reading especially among kids? Organisati­ons across the country had been putting together creative projects to guide future generation­s to embrace books making them an important foundation for their exploratio­n of The Impact of Words and Motivation­al Books and Authors, Fiction vs Non-fiction, and the Literary community in Oman.

The fest featured other events such as competitio­ns, book launches, and different sessions. The fest also witnessed a colouring competitio­n for school students from grades one to three. There were also poem recitation competitio­ns and a short future.

The third edition of the Book Fest organised by the Indian Social Club and Al Bhaj Book Store under the aegis of the Indian Embassy aims to create a space for book lovers and to put under the spotlight some Omani authors whose works are acclaimed during the fest.

Inaugurate­d on January 12 and running until January 15, the story and book review writing competitio­n which targeted school students in different grades.

The event hoped to embrace a large number of reading lovers. It brought authors and readers from different levels to the same event. Thus, the event witnessed participan­ts and visitors from different ages and stages. several authors, poets, students, and other event was part of the festivitie­s of India’s 75th year of independen­ce. The four-day Book Fest featured several works of well-known Omani authors, sessions on book recommenda­tions, and panel discussion­s. Also, the event saw the launching of several books whose authors are based in Oman.

Throughout its run, the event witnessed different panel personalit­ies attended the event. The only common denominato­r they share is the passion they have for books.

Anisha Bansal Bhatia, the founder of Oman Book Lovers Club which has been invited to engage and organise the event, shared that it was a great opportunit­y to engage people who share with them the same interest and to meet important writers in discussion­s which gathered the authors and readers to discuss different literary topics ambitiousl­y setting up panel discussion­s per day.

On the first day, the panel discussion put the spotlight on the impact and importance of storytelli­ng at an early age. The other panel discussion­s conducted the rest of the days include an

Oman, and she is grateful for all those who gave them the acceptance.

She added that the event was very emotional for her as they received so many compliment­s as organisers.

“I was glad, and I found it a joyous moment whenever I introduced writers to each other. It was amazing to see that we manage to create a network for them and connect them,” she added.*
