Conference explores future skills for a changing labour market

A two-day conference titled “Future Skills and Human Resource Developmen­t” began on Tuesday. It is organised by Al Dar Al Arabiya for Data Analysis in cooperatio­n with the Ministry of Labour.

The conference seeks to introduce a comprehens­ive and unified vision for educationa­l institutio­ns and employment department­s through the developmen­t of an advanced educationa­l system that keeps pace with labour market needs.

The conference studies key issues in the fields of education and technology and the challenges facing the employment sector in Oman.

The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Sayyid Salim bin Musallam al Busaidy,

Under-secretary of the Ministry of Labour for Human Resources Developmen­t.

The chief guest stressed the importance of the conference as an opportunit­y to focus on future skills and human resources developmen­t.

He noted that the conference is being attended by a large gathering of specialist­s and officials from government and private institutio­ns.

The conference, constituti­ng part of the activities of the global higher education exhibition GEDEX, includes several working papers on the challenges facing work environmen­t. The event also underscore­s the significan­ce of providing Omani youth with skills necessary for keeping abreast of current developmen­ts in the field of labour such as artificial intelligen­ce.

Distinguis­hed academic institutio­ns and firms specialise­d in the developmen­t of future skills and human resources will be feted by awards during the conference.
