Amr Diab enthralls Oman fans

FANS OF AMR DIAB, the Guinness World Record holder for his soul rendering music, had a musical extravagan­za when their favourite singer transcende­d them on a journey comprising a medley of his songs and made them tap to his tunes last Thursday.

The seven-times winner of World Music Awards and five-times winner of Platinum Records rendered all his class numbers to the people who crooned and wanted more at the Dunes Beach Club of Jebel Sifah, a hospitalit­y project of Oman Tourism Developmen­t Company OMRAN and

Orascom Developmen­t Holding, thanks to the Venture Lifestyle, organiser of the event.

Known as the ‘King of Arab Pop’, Amr Diab is a best-selling Egyptian singer who has created his own style of music, a blend of Western and Egyptian rhythms. His 1996 signature song “Nour El Ain” gained the groundbrea­king artist recognitio­n inside and outside the Arab world. A report published by the BBC suggests that he has ruled the Arab music world, specially Egypt and the Middle East, since the mid 80s, continuall­y breaking sales records. Adding a rare recognitio­n, his songs have been translated to more than seven different languages.

Amr Diab, who is considered to be the founder of Mediterran­ean Music and earned internatio­nal recognitio­n throughout his career including six African Music Awards, went on to heed to his fans in Oman comprising people of various nationalit­ies and age groups, and went on to sing Noor al Ain, Lealy Nahary, Aks Baad, Tamally Ma’ak, Alby Etmannah, Qusad Einy, Al Leila, Ne’oul Aih, and Amarain, among other top of the charts.
