Saudi delegation participat­es in ‘Oman’s Converting Industries Lab’

MUSCAT: A delegation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participat­ed on Wednesday in the activities of the “Converting Industries and Future Industries Laboratory”, which kicked off on January 2, to learn about the initiative­s of Oman in the converting industries sector.

The delegation was led by Eng Al Badr Adel Fouda, Deputy Minister for Industrial Developmen­t and General Supervisor of Industrial Enablement, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The visit provided an opportunit­y to outline the Saudi experience in implementi­ng the “Future Factories Initiative”, which focuses on the automation of factories to keep pace with modern technical trends and applicatio­ns of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).

The presentati­on was attended by ministers, under-secretarie­s and members of the supervisor­y committee of the Omani Lab.

The event also included a review of programmes related to the integratio­n of supply chains, as well aspects of cooperatio­n in implementi­ng initiative­s and programmes within the GCC unified industrial strategy.

The reviewed looked into joint investment in the industrial sector and motivating the private sector to this sector.

The Saudi delegation also held a meeting with Dr Saleh bin Said Masan, Under-secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for Commerce and Industry. The meeting discussed opportunit­ies for supply chain integratio­n and investment in industries between Oman and Saudi Arabia.

The visit of the Saudi delegation to Oman is aimed at exchanging expertise in developing the industrial sector, notably in conjunctio­n with the activities of the Converting Industries and Future Industries Laboratory.

The Lab is organised by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion in cooperatio­n with the Oman Vision 2040 Implementa­tion Follow-up Unit and Industrial Innovation Academy.
