TWO LEADERS REVIEW DISTINGUIS­HED RELATIONS AND DEEP-ROOTED BONDS

CAIRO: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and President Abdul Fattah El-sisi of the Arab Republic of Egypt held an official session of talks at Al Ittihadiya Palace in Cairo on Sunday evening.

At the outset of the session, the Egyptian President reiterated his heartfelt welcome for His Majesty the Sultan as a dear guest of Egypt and its people. He wished His Majesty the Sultan and his official delegation a happy stay. On his turn, His Majesty the Sultan reciprocat­ed the kind sentiments, thanking the President for the warm welcome and sincere hospitalit­y.

The two leaders reviewed the distinguis­hed relations and the deep-rooted historical bonds binding the Sultanate of Oman and the Arab Republic of Egypt. They also explored various aspects of the existing bilateral cooperatio­n in all fields and contemplat­ed ways of consolidat­ing the joint interests in a manner that generates bounty and benefits to the two countries’ peoples.

His Majesty the Sultan and the Egyptian President also exchanged views on various developmen­ts at the regional and internatio­nal arenas.

The session of talks was attended from the Omani side by HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidy, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court,

Gen Sultan bin Mohammed al Numani, Minister of the Royal Office, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, Sultan bin Salim al Habsi, Minister of Finance, Dr Hamad bin Said al Aufi, Head of the Private Office, Abdulsalam bin Mohammed al Murshidi, Chairman of Oman Investment Authority (OIA), Qais bin Mohammed al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, and Abdullah bin Nasser al Rahbi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Arab Republic of Egypt and its Permanent Representa­tive to the Arab League.

Meanwhile, it was attended from the Egyptian side by General Mohamed Zaki, Commander-inchief

of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defence and Military Production, Sameh Shoukry, Foreign Minister, Major General Abbas Kamel, Head of the General Intelligen­ce, Dr Hala El-said, Minister of Planning and Economic Developmen­t, Dr Mohamed Moait, Minister of Finance, Dr Assem Al Jazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communitie­s (Head of the Mission of Honour), Eng Ahmed Samir, Minister of Trade and Industry, Khalid Radi, Ambassador of Egypt to Oman and Ahmed Fahmy, Spokesman of the Presidency.

After that, His Majesty the Sultan and the Egyptian President held a closed-door session.
