MAINTAININ­G STRONG PEOPLE-TO-PEOPLE RELATIONS

MUSCAT: The people-to-people relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Arab Republic of Egypt have been steadily progressin­g, and the mutual bond between the two nations holds great promise, according to a cross-section of individual­s.

Several individual­s from Egypt have shared their perspectiv­es on why they consider the Sultanate of Oman their home, highlighti­ng the Sultanate of Oman’s hospitalit­y.

Dr Mohammed Saad, senior journalist and Editor-in-chief of Al Osra Al Arabiya newspaper and Bureau Chief of Al Youm Al Salaa newspaper in Egypt, explains that the historical ties between Egypt and the Sultanate of Oman have contribute­d to the strong relationsh­ip between the two nations. He mentions the ancient trade routes and cultural connection­s that have persisted throughout history, fostering close cooperatio­n and coordinati­on in political, economic, and cultural spheres.

Dr Saad, also the Director of the Egyptian Al Youm Al Sabea newspaper office in Muscat, acknowledg­es the significan­ce of the Egyptian community in Oman, further demonstrat­ing the depth of the relations between the two brotherly countries.

“The volume of trade exchange between the Sultanate of Oman and Egypt witnessed an increase. The Sultanate of Oman is among the most secure and stable Arab and Gulf countries and attracts many communitie­s, whether Arab, Islamic or foreign. This is what made me, like the rest of the residents of the Sultanate of Oman, choose it as my home, for more than a quarter of a century and today, I thank God, I made the right choice, and I got to know many colleagues and friends, both profession­ally and personally,” he says.

Dr Saad recalls, “When looking back, I can only remember goodness, respect, and moral conduct in dealing with both Omani citizens and residents. The relationsh­ip between myself and the Omani brothers has always been one of brotherhoo­d and love.”

HISTORIC VISIT

Khaled Abdul Aziz al Shall, Vice-president of the Egyptian Community Club in Oman, highlights the historic visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to Egypt, marking the first visit by the HM the Sultan to the country.

He emphasises the vast opportunit­ies that exist between the two countries, given their fraternal relationsh­ip, capabiliti­es in various fields, and influentia­l roles in the region.

The visit reflects the mutual desire to enhance relations and cooperatio­n across economic, cultural, and commercial domains. Al Shall expresses hope that the visit will result in increased trade, economic exchange, and mutual benefits for both peoples.

During the visit, discussion­s will cover regional and internatio­nal issues, aiming to ease tensions in the region. The distinguis­hed relations and shared vision between the leadership of both countries with the countries of the region further contribute to this endeavour.

Hassan Mohammed, Sales Manager at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Nizwa, acknowledg­ed the historical depth and interconne­ction of Egyptian-omani relations spanning thousands of years.

He highlighte­d his choice to live in Oman due to the kindness, generosity, and tolerance of its people, who embrace all nationalit­ies and treat everyone equally.

He also praised the Sultanate of Oman’s safety, security, and the calm and comfortabl­e working environmen­t it offers. Furthermor­e, he sees Oman as a promising market for investment, benefiting from the Oman Vision 2040, which aims to achieve the well-being of the Omani people. The strong peopleto-people relations between the Sultanate of Oman and Egypt continue to flourish, driven by historical ties, frequent diplomatic consultati­ons, and signed agreements.

Both nations strive for closer cooperatio­n and mutual benefits across various sectors, fostering a sense of brotherhoo­d and fostering strong bonds between their peoples.
