Oman Power and Energy Forum 2023 set to commence today

-

The second edition of the three-day Oman Power and Energy Forum is set to commence today at the Grand Millennium Hotel in Muscat. The forum will be held under the patronage of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals.

Eng Salim bin Nasser al Aufi, Minister of Energy & Minerals, will be the Chief Guest & Keynote Speaker at the forum.

In his keynote speech, Eng Salim bin Nasser al Aufi will shed light on the important regulatory developments in the energy sector in the Sultanate of Oman, as well as review the efforts made in terms of energy transition. The power and energy industry is currently experiencing a remarkable transformation, driven by the ever-changing dynamics of the global landscape.

This shift is characterised by a growing emphasis on sustainable development, climate change mitigation, and the increasing demand for clean and renewable energy sources.

Technological advancements and innovative solutions are reshaping the way energy is generated, stored, and distributed, leading to the rapid emergence of smart grids, microgrids, and decentralised energy systems.

Additionally, the increased adoption of electric vehicles and energy storage technologies is further accelerating the transition to a low-carbon economy. Governments, businesses, and individuals are recognising the urgent need to address climate change, and as a result, are making concerted efforts to invest in and promote renewable energy projects, energy efficiency initiatives, and cutting-edge research.

This global shift towards a more sustainable and resilient energy future is not only redefining the industry but also paving the way for new economic opportunities and a better quality of life for all. Oman Power and Energy Forum will focus on the above changing dynamics of the global power and energy sector as well as explore the Sultanate of Oman’s strategy and achievements on the path of energy transition in alignment with the goals set forth in Oman Vision 2040.

The forum is hosted in partnership with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Oman Section, IEEE Power and Energy Society and Oman Society of Engineers with the support of the Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR) and in strategic partnership with Nama Group.

Over 60 top industry leaders from Oman, GCC and international markets will discuss on market trends and policies, sustainable energies, distribution systems, power grids, energy management and efficiency, and asset management and optimisation.
