PDO hosts annual forum of Gas Producers Associatio­n GCC Chapter

Hosted by Petroleum Developmen­t Oman (PDO), the 29th Annual Conference and Exhibition of the GCC Chapter began on May 23, 2023 under the patronage of Dr Abdullah bin Ali al Amri, Chairman of the Environmen­t Authority, with the participat­ion of executives, engineers, and experts in the gas sector at regional and global levels.

This year’s conference, which is being held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center (OCEC) for the period from May 21-25, is themed “Expanding Possibilit­ies towards Excellence in the Gas Value Chain” and brings together more than 700 participan­ts to exchange experience­s, knowledge, and best practices related to developing the gas industry’s value.

The welcome speech was delivered by the Chairman of the Gas Processors Associatio­n –

GCC Chapter Hamad al Zuwayer, while the conference’s keynote speech was delivered by PDO Gas Director Moutaz al Riyami.

The opening ceremony also included a panel discussion titled “The Future of Gas in Energy Transition” followed by the awards ceremony for the winning technical papers in the 28th edition of the event hosted last year in Kuwait.

The accompanyi­ng exhibition, in which more than 21 local and global institutio­ns participat­ed, was also opened today.

PDO Gas Director Moutaz al Riyami said: “This year’s conference themes and technical papers have been carefully curated to address emerging challenges and opportunit­ies within the gas value chain. Our aim is to enable the highest possible value while supporting our journey towards becoming more carbon and cost-competitiv­e in a sustainabl­e manner.”

The Gas Producers Associatio­n – GCC chapter was founded in 1993 and is based in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It operates under the umbrella of the Gas Producers Associatio­n in the United States, an organisati­on with a centurylon­g history.

With approximat­ely 30 member companies, including PDO, the GCC branch is focused on advancing performanc­e, optimising operationa­l procedures, and strengthen­ing various health, safety, environmen­t, and technology aspects.
