‘Fanad’, ‘Al Shahamah’ grab Al Bashayer Cups, ‘Hamlool’ wins rifle

‘Fanad’ owned by the Royal Camel Corps and ‘Al Shahamah’ owned by Said al Harbi claimed Al Bashayer Cups while ‘Hamlool’ owned by Hamed al Wahibi snatched the Al Bashayer rifle in the seventh edition of annual Al Bashayer Camel Festival on Wednesday, which will continue until February 17.

The race was held at Al Bashayer Square in the Wilayat of Adam in Al Dakhiliyah Governorat­e. The camel festival was organised with the support of His Highness Sayyid Asaad bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Internatio­nal Relations and Cooperatio­n Affairs, Personal Representa­tive of His Majesty the Sultan. The sixth day of competitio­ns was participat­ed by the owners and racers from various governorat­es of the Sultanate of Oman and GCC countries.

The Tuesday competitio­ns were allocated for the ‘Yathaa’ category, 4 years old, for a 6 km race competing in 15 rounds. Four main races were in the afternoon, the winners took home cars, cups, rifles and the top 10 camels claimed cash prizes. Eleven races were with cash prizes for the top 10.

‘Fanad’ owned by Royal Camel Corps snatched the opening round cup and a car, coached by Hamed bin Salim al Jdeali. ‘Al Shahamah’ owned by Saeed bin Jaber al Harbi claimed the second Cup and a car. ‘Hamlool’ owned by Hamed bin Shutayet al Wahibi snatched the Al Bashayer rifle and car. ’Hamloolah’ owned by Hamed bin Shutayet al Wahibi won the fourth car.

‘Thann’ finished first in the fifth round, owned by Sulaym bin Salim al Ghalani. ‘Khaterah’ was the champion in the sixth round, owned by Humaid bin Mohammed al Jenabi. ‘Ghazi’ snatched the seventh round honours, owned by Mahfoodh bin Khamis al Jenabi.

‘Muktharah’ grabbed the title of eighth round, owned by Ali bin Abdulah al Balushi. ‘Al Fares’ won the ninth round, owned by Ali bin Said al

Hashmi. ‘Noof ’ finished first in the 10th round, owned by Talib bin Ali al Muharbi.

In the 11th round, ‘Mayasah’ was on top, owned by Khaseb bin Khalifa al Musafri from the UAE. The 12th round was won by ‘ Shaheen‘ owned by Humaid bin Said al Daree.

The 13th round was won by ‘Murtheyah’ owned by Awadh bin Ali al Balushi, while ‘Shawaheen’ owned by Mohammed al Sharqi al Wahibi topped the 14th round and the 15th and concluding race was claimed by ‘Al Tayer’ owned by Humaid bin Ahmed al Qanubi.

Chief guest Shaikh Hilal bin Saeed bin Hamdan al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah, honoured the third day’s winners.

The fourth day’s competitio­ns on Thursday will include three rounds for ‘Thanaya’ category, 5 years old, for a distance of 8 km. Four races are allocated for the ‘Al Hawl’ category, 6 years and above. Both categories will have cash prizes for the top 10. The afternoon competitio­ns will be for human riders, two races will be for 1,500 metres and the main race will be for 12 km. The winner will receive a SUV car and cash prizes for the top 10.
