The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth in cooperation with Nazdhar (the National Programme for Investment and Export Development) organised workshops for cultural and creative industries. The workshops in 10 days will be attended by 100 participants.

Sayyid Said bin Sultan al Busaidy, Under-secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Culture, in his speech said workshops are in line with the goals of Oman Vision 2040 to integrate and enhance creative capabilities.

Al Busaidy said these workshops are based on the ministry’s keenness to make the cultural sector among the vital sectors that contribute to the economic diversification of the Sultanate of Oman. The partnering with Nazdhar is hoped to produce many opportunities and capabilities that can be made commercially viable and achieve many national goals.

Many people concerned with cultural affairs will participate in these sessions, to discuss the reality of cultural creative industries and develop ways to make them economically feasible.

Nour al Mahrouqiyah, Supervisor of the Creative and

Cultural Industries Sector at Nazdhar, said, “We hope through these workshops to come up with tangible outcomes that develop the creative and cultural industries sector, solve any challenges facing its workers.”

The workshops were divided into three tracks. The first track represented the possibilities for developing the cultural creative industries sector, and included five axes: the first axis was creative education and creative skills, the second was the creative infrastructure axis, the third was the creative institutions axis, while the fourth axis represented in financing cultural creative industries, the fifth is the axis of governance and legislation.

The second track is developing investment opportunity initiatives to invite investors, through which investment opportunity initiatives are identified to attract investment in priority sub-sectors such as cultural heritage and tourism, fashion, digital technology, entertainment and events, and films.

The third track is the challenges of investment projects in the sector, and aims to solve the challenges of investment projects, as sessions will be held with the relevant authorities associated with those projects.
