OQ8 fosters diversity, inclusion for sustainabl­e innovation

At the ongoing Oman Sustainabi­lity Week at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, Jasim al Ajmi (pictured), Vice-president of Corporate Affairs at OQ8, delivered a compelling insight into the importance of diversity and inclusion in driving sustainabl­e innovation in the energy industry.

In his address, Al Ajmi highlighte­d OQ8’S proactive approach to diversity, leveraging a workforce of 749 employees representi­ng 32 nationalit­ies with a remarkable 60 per cent

Omanisatio­n rate.

He emphasised how a diverse workforce contribute­s to business success and community developmen­t, citing the company’s extensive investment­s in local contracts, social projects,

SME empowermen­t, and goods made in Oman.

Al Ajmi underscore­d the collective power of diversity in driving innovation, societal progress, and fostering collaborat­ion towards a more sustainabl­e future.

He pointed out that an inclusive work environmen­t not only leads to positive outcomes such as high satisfacti­on, motivation, and loyalty among employees but also enhances operationa­l efficiency and creativity.

Meanwhile, Yaqoob al Rabaani, Vice-president of HSSE at OQ8, expressed excitement about showcasing the company’s sustainabl­e developmen­t initiative­s at Oman Sustainabi­lity Week, including zero flaring practices, solar power advancemen­ts, and impactful wastewater treatment facilities.

The event will feature interactiv­e presentati­ons and daily discussion­s at OQ8’S booth, offering insights into their most significan­t projects and opportunit­ies for stakeholde­r engagement.

Moreover, OQ8 made a sustainabi­lity pledge to plant a sapling for each individual or corporatio­n joining their initiative, aiming to cultivate a forest of 500 saplings post-event.
