OQ8 fosters diversity, inclusion for sustainable innovation
At the ongoing Oman Sustainability Week at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, Jasim al Ajmi (pictured), Vice-president of Corporate Affairs at OQ8, delivered a compelling insight into the importance of diversity and inclusion in driving sustainable innovation in the energy industry.
In his address, Al Ajmi highlighted OQ8’S proactive approach to diversity, leveraging a workforce of 749 employees representing 32 nationalities with a remarkable 60 per cent
Omanisation rate.
He emphasised how a diverse workforce contributes to business success and community development, citing the company’s extensive investments in local contracts, social projects,
SME empowerment, and goods made in Oman.
Al Ajmi underscored the collective power of diversity in driving innovation, societal progress, and fostering collaboration towards a more sustainable future.
He pointed out that an inclusive work environment not only leads to positive outcomes such as high satisfaction, motivation, and loyalty among employees but also enhances operational efficiency and creativity.
Meanwhile, Yaqoob al Rabaani, Vice-president of HSSE at OQ8, expressed excitement about showcasing the company’s sustainable development initiatives at Oman Sustainability Week, including zero flaring practices, solar power advancements, and impactful wastewater treatment facilities.
The event will feature interactive presentations and daily discussions at OQ8’S booth, offering insights into their most significant projects and opportunities for stakeholder engagement.
Moreover, OQ8 made a sustainability pledge to plant a sapling for each individual or corporation joining their initiative, aiming to cultivate a forest of 500 saplings post-event.
