24 defibrillators distributed across Muscat with Oman LNG’s support
MUSCAT: It’s a fact; defibrillators save lives. Recently 24 defibrillators were distributed to health centres across Muscat, with Oman LNG’s support, which will be able to serve 1.5 million people living in the area.
The event took place at Al Khuwair Health Centre and was attended by Dr Tahira Muhammed Al Lawati, deputy director-general of Health Services in Muscat Governorate. On behalf of Oman LNG, Khalid bin Abdullah Al Massan, chief executive officer of Oman LNG Development Foundation attended, says a press release.
Oman LNG reinforced its effective role in the field of social development by funding the purchase of 24 Automated External Defibrillators (AED) for several health centres in Muscat – an increase of more than 50% in numbers of defibrillators available across Muscat compared to the earlier agreed amount in an agreement signed last year between Oman LNG and the Directorate General of Health Services in Muscat. This project will raise the quality of healthcare services offered by many recognised care providers which will advance them to cater for more patients in the Sultanate.
It is undeniable that having defibrillators is a fundamental part of any healthcare system because of its vital role in saving lives and ultimately reducing mortality rates from cardiac arrests.
“We are proud of this moment, where the milestone achieved is helping to translate His Majesty’s vision for better healthcare into reality. Our role has been to complement the country’s healthcare infrastructure with cutting-edge equipment supplemented with training,” said Khalid.
Oman LNG has an ambitious vision and dedication towards Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) through the Oman LNG Development Foundation. The foundation addresses many areas of social development in Oman, but in general comprises a Community Fund targeting initiatives related to the Sur Community where its world-class, three-train liquefaction plant is located; a National Fund that covers a wide swath of the company’s social development programmes across the nation; a Reserve Fund to address the sustainability and continuity of the company’s CSR programmes; and finally a Centre of Excellence to develop lasting CSR initiatives through partnering, knowledge sharing, funding and investments.
