ISAM organises ‘Tarang’
MUSCAT: ‘Tarang 2016’, a twoday inter-house cultural festival, was organised by Indian School Al Mabelah (ISAM) recently.
It was a maiden attempt undertaken by the school to provide a platform for students from Classes V to XI to showcase their skills and talents in various fields of art, music, dance and literature. Over the two days, events such as group dance, classical dance, folk dance, classical song, collage making, Rangoli, pencil drawing, Painting, recitation, elocution etc., saw enthusiastic participation from scores of students, says a press release.
The event was inaugurated on the first day by Dr Nisha Samir, a doctor at Starcare Hospital, Al Hail. The second day event was inaugurated by Anitha Nagaram Dhande, a well known dancer and well wisher of the school. Both of them noted that Tarang was a forum for students to nurture their talents and encouraged the students to participate with a spirit of healthy competition. P. Prabakaran, the school principal, delivered the welcome address.
Students from all four houses, Red, Green Yellow and Blue exhibited their talents. The competition was stiff and judges had a difficult time choosing the winners. It helped foster friendly relations between students of different branches and interests.
The overall winners of the competitions were: Red House (seniors) and Yellow House ( juniors). Individual championships were bagged by Vismaya V. S. (seniors) and Nakshathra ( juniors). All winners were applauded and prizes were given away by Elizabeth Kurien during the special assembly.
