-

MUSCAT: Philips recently launched a new range of projectors, the PPX3417 and Screeneo, providing higher quality images.

PPX3417 is a small and light pocket projector that can easily be connected to various devices like smartphones, notebooks and tablets to access your digital content, says a press release.

Providing top-quality images thanks to its on-board LED technology, the PPX3417 Wireless offers brilliant colours and excellent contrast. The included Wi-Fi dongle connects your devices to the Picopix Screenplay function. It is also Miracast compatible and works with most Android devices and laptops. This allows to project images up to 120 inches diagonally. It offers a brightness of 170 lumens. Its main asset is its compactness: Its only 105x105x31.5mm and light weight of 270 grams.

Enjoy films and sports events on a huge screen in full HD quality by positioning Screeneo just a few centimetres away from a wall. The LuminAce engine ensures a brilliant and crisp image with 2000 colour Lumens, natural colours and a deep black.

The Screen Mirroring functionality compatible iOS, Android and Windows, can also share content from your smartphone or tablet wirelessly on the projection screen. Note the presence of an HDMI, mini USB, SD and audio output. The PPX3417 has a 4GB internal memory and an integrated battery with a range of up to two hours of projection with the video resolution of 854 × 480 pixels. Ideal for showing films at home or outside, and for sharing your best videos and photos with friends and family.

This is the season for ultrashort throw projectors, the first model resolution full HD 1080P range of projectors Philips Screeneo, the HDP2510. Unlike projectors, Screeneo is a short-throw unit, designed to sit at the base of a wall and beam images straight above it. Setup is ridiculously simple, since all you have to do is plug the thing in, select which way the screen needs to be oriented.

Screeneo is Android-powered, with 4GB of on-board storage, WiFi with built-in web browser and even an SD card slot, makes it a lot more flexible than your average TV. Philips and Xgem return to a lighting based on a conventional UHP lamp. The life of the cinema mode lamp is given 10,000 hours and there is a 250 watt model with a light output of 2,000 lumens and dynamic contrast of 200,000: 1.

So here we are facing a DLP projector with very short focal or UST (Ultra Short Throw projection) with a colour wheel RGBRGB. The Screeneo is designed as a nomadic projection solution featuring integrated speakers with subwoofer all given a power of 26 watts. This equipment takes up more space than previous models and the height of the device is impacted with 39cm and a weight of 8kg. The Screeneo comes with a black carry case that features on top of a separate compartment for storing the remote control, the power cable and your USB key or hard drives.

The HDP2510 2.0 is therefore clearly intended for mobile use to watch movies by projecting them onto a white wall on a high base image. In addition to the bag for the carry, the projector features a retractable handle on top of the unit. In terms of connectivity the offer is tempting with three HDMI inputs, one protected by a cover, 1 VGA, 1 USB, 1 video input, 2 audio outputs, audio input and headphone jack.

If the HDP2510 has no network capacity to the WLAN, it is compatible Bluetooth audio and can be used with happiness as a nomadic speaker without having to turn on the projector. Thus, the HDP2510 can display an image of more than 3 metres in size with only 40cm of decline.
