Bank Sohar provides mobile top-up facility for its customers
MUSCAT: Following the recent launch of its One-Minute Mobile Banking App, Bank Sohar has now announced that a mobile topup feature has been introduced to the app.
This new feature provides customers with increased convenience by allowing them the option to top-up their mobile phones credit directly from the app with their desired amount, says a press release.
Commenting on the introduction of the new service, Mujahid Said Al Zadjaly, DGM - IT & Alternate Channels said, “The addition of the mobile top-up is a unique new feature that will allow our customers to easily recharge their numbers and those of their families as and when required instantly. This feature will no doubt be popular with our customers because of its simplicity as well as the value and convenience it provides. As with the introduction of this feature, we will continue to evolve the app, making quality-of-life improvements and introduce new features as and when possible; thereby adding to its already impressive range of features and capabilities.”
In order to utilise the new mobile top-up feature customers will first need to add and register the mobile phone number they wish to top up into the app by selecting the new option in the main menu followed by the ‘Add Top-up’ button. Once on that screen, the users will need to fill in three key details – The service provider, the nickname in order to save for future reference and identifications and adding the number which needs to be recharged. These details will then be verified using the user’s one-time password (OTP) that will be sent via SMS.
Once a number has been registered, top ups can be easily made by selecting the service provider from the drop down menu and the desired number followed by the ‘Top-up’ option in the ‘Mobile Top-up’ section of the app. Users will then be required to select the account number to be debited, followed by the desired amount to be utilised for the recharge.

In order to use Bank Sohar’s mobile banking app, customers need only self-register through the app itself after having downloaded it from Google Play or Apple App Store. In addition to topping up their mobile phones, users will be able to settle their credit cards dues, monitor their accounts with real-time account balance, view mini statements, conduct fund transfers (within and outside of Bank Sohar), pay utility bills, request cheque books and renew fixed deposit accounts.
