Dhyan Chand Trophy hockey on Friday

MUSCAT: Four teams will vie for top honours in the Dhyan Chand Trophy hockey tournament to be organised by Team Coor Muscat, UTSC and Friends of Naqvi Group at Al Qurm Ground on Friday.

The tournament is being organised in memory of Indian hockey legend Dhyan Chand, whose birth anniversary is annually celebrated as the Indian National Sports Day on September 29.

According to Tournament Director Bellu Kuttappa the tour- nament, being oranised with the support of Indian Embassy and Oman Hockey Association, has attracted four teams.

Popular hockey personality SAS Naqvi, former coach of the Sultanate’s national hockey team and technical advisor of Oman Olympic Committee and Oman Hockey Association who had the previlege of being associated with the legendary Dhyan Chand, will be the chief guest while wellknown sports organiser Osama Rawat will be the guest of honour.
