Keep your car off the grass in Dhofar

New regulation­s were issued by Dhofar Municipali­ty recently to regulate the vehicles and public parking in Dhofar

MUSCAT: Vehicles found parked on green sites in Dhofar will face heftier fines and legal actions, according the new regulation­s issued by Dhofar Municipali­ty.

The regulation also states those found violating the rules will have to pay for the maintenanc­e work. New regulation­s were issued by Dhofar Municipali­ty recently to regulate the vehicles and public parking in Dhofar governorat­e.

Article 2 bans trucks from parking in residentia­l areas or on road sides. Trucks are now allowed to park for maximum 12 minutes in commercial area for load or unload purpose. The new regulation also banned parking vehicles for selling purpose in public park- ing, road sides or in main or sub roads, according to article 3 in the new regulation.

It’s also now banned to offer any products in a vehicle parked in public parking, road sides, according to article 5.

Repeat violations

Those found violating article 2, 3, 4 or 5 will have to pay OMR 100 fine for the first and second time violation. However in the third time the violators will have to pay OMR 300 or spend 3 days in jail.

Last month, Muscat Municipali­ty issued new regulation imposing heftier fines and fees to regulate the public parking in the capital city. In Muscat now, drivers who occupy two parking lots to park one vehicle will be fined OMR10 and those occupying a parking lot reserved for disabled motorists will have to pay OMR20.

Those leaving their car in a parking lot reserved for ambulance parking will have to pay OMR100 and those who leave their vehicles for sale or for advertisem­ent purposes in public parking areas and sidewalks will also be slapped a fine of OMR500, according to the new regulation­s imposed by Muscat Municipali­ty.

Exclusions

However, both regulation­s in Muscat and Dhofar have excluded the ambulances, police patrol, civil defence vehicles, municipali­ty vehicles and government vehicles approved by the municipali­ty.

The order issued by Mohammed Sultan Al Busaidi, State Minister and Dhofar Governor, also clarified that parking in public parking with paying the fees or exceeding the period of parking is considered a violation. Those found parking without paying the fees or exceeding the time of parking will have to a fine of not less than OMR 50 and more than OMR 300.
