Children’s cricket tournament marks National Day celebrations

MUSCAT: A cricket tournament for children was organised to mark the National Day celebrations in Ruwi recently.

The tournament comprised two categories — Group 1 for under-9 years and Group 2 for under-14 years.

In Group 1, Team A defeated Team B.

Batting first, Team A scored 53 in eight overs with Uswal top scoring with 30.

In reply, Team B were all out for 44. Akshobya scored 14. Akansh of Team A took two wickets. Ujwal was the best batsman while Akansh was the best bowler.

In Group 2, Team A scored 77 runs in 10 overs with M.P.R. Adhithiya making 30 runs.

In reply, Team B were all out for 50 runs. Sailesh scored 14 runs. Pranav of Team A took two wickets. Best batsman award went to M.P.R. Adhithiya and best bowler was Pranav.

The entire event was organised under the able guidance of former Madras Ranji Trophy player M.K. Iqbal. Former coach of Oman national hockey team SAS Naqvi distributed the prizes.
