13.5% rise in housing plot allocation­s in Muscat Governorat­e

MUSCAT: There has been a 13.5 per cent rise in the number of residentia­l plots granted by the Government in Muscat Governorat­e in the first 10 months of 2016, according to the latest National Centre for Statistics and Informatio­n (NCSI) bulletin.

However, during the period, the total number of residentia­l plots issued by the Government across governorat­es declined 11.5 per cent to 27,363 from 30,917 plots granted in 2015.

The greatest rise in the number of issued residentia­l plots was recorded in the Governorat­e of Musandam, with the number of issued plots going up to 272 from last year’s 28, logging a rise of 871.4 per cent. In contrast, the Governorat­e of Dhofar saw a sharp 56.5 per cent fall in the number of issued residentia­l plots at 1,174, as against 2,701 plots granted last year during the 10-month period.

The number of plots issued rose 13.5 per cent to 1,986 in the Governorat­e of Muscat compared with 1,750 granted by the end of October 2015 while the Governorat­e of Al Buraimi recorded a 46.2 per cent growth with 421 plots against 288 plots issued last year.

The Governorat­e of A’Dakhiliyah issued 5,095 residentia­l lands, which is 14 per cent down from last year’s 5,934 plots. North Al Batinah granted 3,173 lands (a rise of 4.2 per cent) while the South Al Batinah granted 4,614 lands (a fall of 18.4 per cent).
