Be’ah to manage Dahira waste from February

MUSCAT: Waste management services in Al Dhahira Governorat­e will be taken over by be’ah on February 1, according to the company.

The firm’s executive management had a meeting with Sheikh Saif Al Shuhi, Governor of Al Dhahira, and members of Shura and Municipal Councils in Ibri to present be’ah’s plan to take over the service.

Strategy

Sheikh Mohammed Al Harthy, EVP of Strategic Developmen­t in be’ah, presented the company’s strategy for waste management after it takes over the task from the Ministry of Regional Municipali­ties and Water Resources (MRMWR).

Ahmed Mohammed Al Sabahi, Head of Municipal Solid Waste Planning at be’ah, clarified the role that the internatio­nal operator, Al Ramooz National Veolia, will play in providing this service.

Ensuring cleanlines­s

The task involves ensuring cleanlines­s within a radius of 20 metres around the waste containers and transporti­ng waste to an engineered landfill in Ibri.

Al Sabahi also emphasised the importance of community outreach, awareness and environmen­tal education.
