No immediate plan to review 2-year visa ban
With Minister of Manpower’s concurrence with Shura Council members on the two-year visa ban, it is now almost clear that there is no immediate plan to review the government decision on this much discussed and debated subject, Minister of Manpower backs 2-year visa ban in Oman, (January 17). In the recent past, this topic was in the news in different forms including various social media channels on almost every day, following which expatriates kept their anxiety on a high, expecting a reverse decision in the two-year visa ban currently in place. Meanwhile, a good point in the report was about Shura members insisting on stopping recruitment of Omanis to meet the legal requirement of Omanisation in organisations. In reality, the trend of adding on Omani workforce in any type of industry does not return with value outcome. In the context of keeping business objectives in focus, it is very important that new appointments are done carefully and with proper analysing to benefit both employees and the organisations. At the same time, the business projects envisaged under the recently held ‘Tanfeedh’ show must have a clear vision to further improving the work culture and how such initiatives can help benefiting various aspects of the human potential.
