Z-Corp honours student of Al Wafa Centre on winning prestigiou­s Arab award

MUSCAT: The Zubair Corporatio­n (Z-Corp) recently honoured Safa bint Hamdan Al Salhiyah, a student of Al Wafa Rehabilita­tion Centre for Disabled Children, Sohar who won the first place at the Arab country level Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Child Creativity held in Dubai.

The prestigiou­s award aims to inspire innovative­ness, develop skills, further special capabiliti­es and encourage creative ideas among children. The event to honour the student, who won the top place in the caricature drawing category, was organised by the ‘collaborat­ion team’ of Z-Corp which comprises a group of employees of Z-Corp who participat­e in community initiative­s which are planned and executed by them, says a press release.

Khalid Muhammad Al Zubair, managing director of The Zubair Corporatio­n said, “It is a moment of pride for Oman that a child from the Sultanate has topped the contest and won the prestigiou­s Arab level award. It is important to participat­e in such events since it enhances creative skills and improves knowledge. Such awards discover the innate talents among children, promotes healthy competitiv­eness and encourages positive thinking.”

He added, “We are proud of Safa’s achievemen­t. Z-Corp attaches great importance to platforms that encourage children’s creativity and talent. I would also like to laud the Z-Corp’s ‘collaborat­ion team’s endeavour in organising this event to honour this child.”

Maryam Al Balushi, supervisor of the centre, said, “The country’s children are its future and it is imperative that we keep them engaged in activities such as this. We are delighted that our student has won this important Arab level contest where children participat­ed to showcase their talent in various including portraits, photograph­s and caricature. Al Wafa Rehabilita­tion Centre for Disabled Children is very keen to involve our children in various activities in the community.”

Maryam added, “We are grateful to Z-Corp’s collaborat­ion team for all their good work they do with us and the society. They have been doing mazing work.”

It may be recalled that to encourage children with disabiliti­es and special needs, Z-Corp recently launched an art contest ‘I am gifted’ at the Al Wafa Rehabilita­tion Centre for Disabled Children in Sohar.

The art contest is being organised by the ‘collaborat­ion team’ of Z-Corp in associatio­n with Al Wafa Rehabilita­tion Centre for Disabled Children and Bait Al Zubair. The contest provides an exciting opportunit­y for children with disabiliti­es and special needs from around North and South Al Batinah governorat­es to display their talent. The aim of the contest is to encourage children with disabiliti­es and special needs to participat­e and showcase their skill.

The ‘collaborat­ion team’ undertakes projects and highlights The Zubair Corporatio­n’s strategy to bring focus to its continued and evolving socially relevant work as a responsibl­e corporate house with intent to make a positive difference in the society.

The Zubair Corporatio­n’s ‘collaborat­ion team’ builds its pro- grammes around factors such as employee engagement, community involvemen­t and corporate giving. The main objective is to touch and improve upon the lives of the communitie­s we live in.

The ‘collaborat­ion team’ organises special events to remain connected with the society. Among the programmes it has undertaken, the ‘collaborat­ion team’ organised an open sports day event at the Omar bin Al Khattab Institute for the Blind based in Mawaleh. To emphasise the philosophy of giving to the society, the ‘collaborat­ion team’ organised a community event at the Al Wafa Rehabilita­tion Centre for Disabled Children in Sohar last year. As part of its initiative­s to reach out to the local community during the spirituall­y uplifting Ramadan month, the ‘collaborat­ion team’ organised aIftar and dinner reception for senior citizens in Al Batinah South and Al Dakhiliyah governorat­es.
